Let’s Read resources help spread the word with Dolly Parton

Bretton New, Executive Principal Doveton Primary School, and Rachel Robinson from the Centre for Community Child Health had the opportunity to share some Let’s Read resources with Dolly Parton on Wednesday 23 November before attending her concert at Rod Laver Arena.

Rachel and Brett were joined by The R.E. Ross Trust’s Sylvia Admans and Sue McKerracher from the Library Agency who presented Dolly with a copy of Alison Lester’s Are We There Yet? – theme book for the National Year of Reading 2012.

Dolly Parton’s passion for improving educational opportunities for children led her to set up the Imagination Library, a foundation to foster a love of reading among preschool children and their families.

Let’s Read is an initiative to promote reading with young children from birth to five years. It was developed by the Centre for Community Child Health and is implemented across Australia by the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute in partnership with The Smith Family.
