On Thursday 27 April, Victorian Minister for Families and Children, the Hon Jenny Mikakos MP, launched the Laying the Foundations eLearning course at the Pauline Gandel Children’s Gallery, Melbourne Museum.
Laying the Foundations is an interactive online learning package for early childhood educators and professionals working with children and families.
“Quality early years education is so important, and this online learning course will help improve our children’s potential as they grow up”, Minister Mikakos said.
The course consists of five modules and all material is informed by the science of early brain development, current research and practice-based evidence.
Also speaking at the launch was CCCH Director, Professor Frank Oberklaid, who said children’s early experiences shape their lifelong wellbeing.
“Laying the Foundations develops understanding of how to support children’s learning and development to give them the very best start.”
“Building understanding of the importance of nurturing relationships, rich experiences, and how to support strong early childhood learning and development will have lasting benefits for our children and our communities.”
