Ensuring children in Nepal get the right start

Director of the Centre for Community Child Health, Professor Frank Oberklaid, attended the June conference to share the Centre’s work and early childhood development expertise.

Hosted by Unicef Nepal, the theme of the conference was greater coordination and investment in holistic development of children aged 0-8.

Dr. Rownak Khan, UNICEF Nepal’s Deputy Representative said, “Our goal is to ensure that all the children of Nepal are physically healthy, mentally alert, emotionally sound, and ready to learn.”

Professor Oberklaid spoke about the opportunity to strengthen quality ECD services for children in Nepal, emphasising the importance of the best possible start for children.

“The earlier we begin, the better it is,” he said.
