A new Research Insights paper shares recent data on families experiences of financial stress in Australia.
The unprecedented disruption to family income caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is limiting children’s opportunities during a crucial time in their health and development. To recover from the pandemic and build back better, we need to address the potential harms caused by these disruptions. Understanding the financial stress experiences of families with young children is key.
The new Research Insights paper draws on the Melbourne Institute’s Taking the Pulse of the Nation (TTPN) Survey data from June 2020 to September 2021 to explore the levels of financial stress experienced by families with children.
The paper was a partnership of the Melbourne Institute: Applied Economic & Social Research, the University of Melbourne, the Centre for Community Child Health, the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and Brotherhood of St. Laurence.
