Stepping up for easy, timely access

An innovative community has united to bring families the services they need.

Australia has a myriad of health, education and welfare systems and services to support children in the early years, yet we continue to see some children arrive at school without the experiences and support they need to thrive.

But innovative leadership for the Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Partnership is seeing early childhood professionals, services and parents working together to ensure local children get every opportunity to succeed at school and beyond.

The partnership aims to:

  • improve access for parents to pick up issues at the earliest opportunity, before problems even arise or become entrenched
  • coordinate services so there are no wrong doors
  • make sure children arrive at school confident, ready to learn and able to fulfil their potential as they grow older.

Our Director, Professor Frank Oberklaid spoke recently with ABC Radio about how this exciting partnership will support change.
