In the first few years, children’s development is rapid and they are constantly learning new skills. These new skills, knowledge and abilities affect their behaviour.
Find out how to support children’s behaviour development in the latest editions of Grow & Thrive and Community Paediatric Review.
Grow & Thrive
Young children develop behaviour skills through their relationships with their families and the other adults in their lives. These skills also develop through observing the relationships that you have with others, including your child’s educators and teachers.

Community Paediatric Review
As children grow and develop, they learn to regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour. On the way to learning those skills, young children express their wide range of emotional responses in ways that can create stress and anxiety for parents and caregivers – troubling behaviour can include aggression, defiance and/or hyperactivity.
Child and family health nurses can play an important role in helping parents to nurture their child’s behaviour and emotional regulation skills.
