CCCH welcomes report from the Royal Commission into Family Violence

‘CCCH welcomes the release of this report which addresses an important issue in our community, and acknowledges the vast amount of work that this report represents. While prevention of family violence is not the focus of our work, CCCH is aware of the negative and sometimes long term effects on children of exposure to violence.

We particularly welcome the call for increased focus on early detection of risks and emerging issues, which in turn is predicated on a more responsive and better coordinated service system. We look forward to working with the government and other stakeholders to implement the Commission’s recommendations and help make a difference to the healthy development of children.’

Professor Frank Oberklaid, Director of the Centre for Community Child Health
