Seminar: Engaging with parents

Join us for a half-day in-conversation seminar with Margy Whalley from Pen Green Centre for Children and their Families in the UK to explore the intricacies of engaging with parents on the design and delivery of services.

Margy will provide commentary on promising practices emerging in Australia, drawing on her research and long experience in working with parents in Northamptonshire, UK.

Active participation of parents in child learning, and in the design and delivery of services, is a key feature of a new way of working with families. Active participation of parents can support the future wellbeing of children and the prosperity of our whole nation.

At this event, we are thrilled to welcome a parent representative and service representatives from the Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC) program, which is closely linked to Tasmanian Child and Family Centres. We will also feature practice examples of parent engagement in Victoria. Dianne Jackson, the new CEO of the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth, will share her thoughts about a new national initiative with a focus on parent engagement. Margy Whalley will act as a critical friend and help the audience to explore the intricacies of their work in engaging with parents.
