• NHMRC Elizabeth Blackburn Fellowship – highest-ranked Public Health Research Fellowship to a female applicant
• NHMRC Excellence Award – highest-ranked Public Health Research Fellowship

Melissa is the Director of Research at the Royal Children’s Hospital Centre for Community Child Health and paediatrician and professor at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.
