The patients, families and staff at The Royal Children’s Hospital are overwhelmed by the community generosity which resulted in another record breaking Good Friday Appeal donation.
Donors from all round Australia contributed an astounding $11,788,970.88 to support clinical care, research and family services at the RCH.
“This fantastic result illustrates how much value the community places in the health and well-being of our children.” said RCH chairman Tony Beddison AO. “This support ensures we will continue to provide world class care, here in Melbourne, for Australian children who need the services we provide.”
This year the hospital will again fund research into childhood illnesses and purchase medical equipment such as a heart lung machine, instruments and cardiac echo for use in the cardiac theatre, monitors for the neonatal unit, operating theatre tables, anaesthetic machines and a viztrectomy machine for eye surgery.
Good Friday Appeal donors fund the in-house TV program Macadamia and extra Play Therapists to support our pain management program, ComfortKids.
And we will also be able to provide parent facilities in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit thanks to Good Friday Appeal supporters.
So thanks everyone, from the kids.
