One little boy, one brave decision, three lives saved

EthanOrgan and Tissue Donation Saves Lives – This one phrase is what my wife and I have become champions and promoters of.

In late 2011 our lives were forever changed. Our third child Ethan James Seccull, or Jimmy as he was affectionately known, was a three year old boy who lived his life to the full. He lived and he loved. Always affectionate, with a kiss and a cuddle for anybody anytime. Sharing his love with whomever he could. He was good at sharing.

One morning, he decided to climb the gate to wave to the train that ran behind our property. He was struck by the train and airlifted to The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne.

It was on that afternoon that my wife and I received the gut wrenching news that the Medical Team could do no more to save our little boy. Standing there holding his little hands is indescribable. We knew that we could not get our miracle, but through Ethan we could give other families their miracle.

We didn’t have to be asked, our Jimmy would have shared; he became an Organ and Tissue Donor, and saved three lives.

And so the ‘Jimmy Challenge’ has begun. We ask that you share this message and head to the Ethan “Jimmy” Seccull Foundation Facebook page to join the ‘Jimmy Challenge’ and spread the word about Organ and Tissue donation. You can also visit DonateLife or donatelife.gov.au for information.
