We are thrilled to introduce Dasha Uy as our inaugural Knowledge Exchange Resident at the Centre for Adolescent Health!
Dasha joins us from the Philippines Department of Health, where she serves as a Senior Health Program Officer in the Health Promotion Bureau. She leads the development and scale-up of the Healthy Learning Institutions (HLI) program, which provides technical and financial support to approximately 1,500 last-mile elementary schools in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
Currently based in Australia, Dasha is completing a Master of Health Promotion at Deakin University as a DFAT Australia Awards Scholar – a prestigious program that supports emerging leaders from the Indo-Pacific to study, build networks, and contribute to development outcomes in their home countries.
Over the next three months, Dasha will collaborate with our Healthy Schools Research Team as part of the Knowledge Exchange Residency—a program designed for researchers, educators, school-based practitioners, and policy professionals passionate about adolescent health and whole-school approaches. Residents co-create practical outputs such as blog posts, presentations, literature reviews, and policy documents, while contributing to global healthy schools’ initiatives.
During her residency, Dasha will focus on developing a framework to support a Community of Practice for educators in last-mile schools, aimed at strengthening the implementation and sustainability of the Healthy Learning Institutions Program.
We’re excited to learn from Dasha’s insights and experiences, and to support her in this next phase of her professional journey.
Welcome, Dasha!
