The Australian Youth Taskforce has launched its third round of consultations with young Australian’s, to contribute ideas to the National Youth Policy Framework that is being developed by the Australian Government.
It is an opportunity for young people aged 18 to 30 to contribute insights and ideas on how to best shape a policy aimed at improving the lives of young Australians. The National Youth Policy Framework will be delivered by the Youth Taskforce at the end of 2020, and they are inviting young people to have their say.
The Youth Taskforce had planned a series of face-to-face consultations to be carried out earlier this year, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, they moved to an online platform. The survey is now accessible to any Australians, aged 18 to 30 years. Australian’s aged 15-17 are encouraged to email the Youth Taskforce to discuss how they can get involved, if they want their voices to be heard.
The online consultations aim to give young people a voice, empowering individuals to be more involved in issues that affect them. The Framework aims to highlight what is important to young Australian’s, identify gaps in services, and make sure policies and programs are effective and relevant to a young population. By consulting the people these policies will effect, the Youth Taskforce hopes to improve Australian Government youth services and programs, by better supporting young people, especially those who are vulnerable.
Importantly, this process will provide the Youth Taskforce with important insights into how the effects of COVID-19 have impacted the lives of young Australians, and how the network of Australian Government Departments and agencies can provide more targeted support for these impacts.
The Survey closes midnight on Monday 12 October and can be completed by using the link below. The results of the survey will be used to finalise the framework.
