The Centre for Adolescent Health with the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Services, from the University of Melbourne, are delighted to welcome our Adolescent Health and Wellbeing students for 2020.
Spanning youth and children’s Health, Family Health, Education, School Wellbeing, Education Policy, Community Services, Family Violence, Disability, Out of Home Care, Local Government, Policing and Justice, this cohort is highly attuned to the challenges facing young people. From across five states and five countries, you bring vital perspectives to creating better futures, for and with young people. Especially at the moment, the University recognises your leadership and service on the front lines protecting communities against COVID – 19.
The class of 2020 will join 680 past graduates to become part of the fabulous AHW Alumni. We are always delighted to meet our new students, and so are proud to work with these powerful change agents in the world.
Our students come into the course with a problem in mind, a spirit of inquiry about how to address it, and a commitment to do just that. They recognise the complex challenges facing young people and are applying their learning within their organisations to more powerfully address these.
Adolescent Health and Wellbeing graduates demonstrate the ethos of the course: young people’s health and wellbeing is everybody’s business, and we are about building capacity across the sector.
“I felt I needed more training. The course helped me better understand adolescence. I was reading up on research, and using evidence-based theories on adolescent thinking, adolescent development, young people’s experience of classes and schooling, and their experience of social media and so on. It helped with my understanding…”
