This August Dr Mick Creati has set out on an epic journey, cycling 2,438 km along unsealed roads from Geraldton to Alice Springs to raise money for the Chronic Illness Peer Support (ChIPS) program run out of the Department of Adolescent Medicine, RCH.
ChIPS is an amazing peer support program for young people, led by young people. ChIPS offers young people aged 12 to 25 years with chronic illnesses a wide range of experiences that they may otherwise not be able to participate in, such as participation in discussion groups, social events, leadership opportunities and camps.
Many Chippers have never been on school camps as their schools can’t cater for their medical needs. Twice a year ChIPS takes approximately 50/60 Chippers away on camp, providing them the opportunity to experience the fun of camp, with a full medical support team of doctors and nurses from the RCH.
ChIPS is an amazing program providing invaluable support to its adolescent members. Please help Mick raise funds to support the program by donating to the Ride to the Rock Every day Hero fundraising page: https://rchf-fundraising.everydayhero.com/au/Ridingforchips
