MOOC on global adolescent health

Sam_14_10_15On 28 September 2015 the University of Melbourne launched a new Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) entitled Global Adolescent Health led by CAH Professors Susan Sawyer and George Patton and Educational Designer Samantha Van Staalduinen. MOOCs are free online higher education courses available to learners worldwide- anyone with an interest and internet connection can enrol free of charge.

Nearly 5000 students from all over the world have enrolled in Global Adolescent Health to date, which runs for a total of 8 weeks. Participants are invited to join at any time, as the course does not have to be completed from start to finish. Learners can engage as much or as little as they like and in a variety of ways depending on their learning goals, with the course featuring a range of resources and activities that include video lectures, interviews with international adolescent health experts, readings, quizzes and peer-assessed short written assignments. Participants also have the opportunity to engage with a truly international community of like-minded learners via the online discussion forums.

Those interested in taking the course in its entirety and receiving a verified Course Certificate can choose to do so via the Signature Track enrolment option (which is available until next week and carries a cost of $AUD63), but there is no cost required for accessing any of the course material and anyone can enrol for free.

Global Adolescent Health is designed to be of interest to a diverse group of learners, including those working with youth in the health, education, and community sectors and those whose work focuses on prevention, program or policy development.
