About this event
Adolescent health and wellbeing reflects a complex set of interactions between biology and social context, both of which have dramatically changed in recent years. Over this period, the health and wellbeing of 10-24 year old adolescents and young adults has not improved to nearly the same extent as younger children and older adults. Hence, the importance of new scientific understandings, public health interventions and service responses that offer more sophisticated opportunities to advance adolescent health than ever before.
Delivered online, the Adolescent Health and Wellbeing programs will provide you with the latest knowledge of adolescent health and development, prevention frameworks and skills to work more effectively with individuals and populations in schools and communities, and within health services.

Youth Cancer Service Scholarships 2026 – APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN!
Canteen is excited to announce that applications for the Youth Cancer Service Scholarships are now open.
This program offers Youth Cancer Service (YCS) staff and affiliated health professionals working in Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancer care the chance to advance their expertise through:
- Graduate Certificate in Adolescent Health and Wellbeing (Oncology Stream)
- Graduate Diploma in Adolescent Health & Wellbeing
- Master of Adolescent Health & Wellbeing
These online education courses are accredited by the University of Melbourne and designed to deepen the understanding of the developmental, psychological, social and environmental factors impacting adolescent health and wellbeing.
These courses are designed for:
- Doctors, nurses, social workers, allied health workers and counsellors
- Professionals working with AYAs impacted by cancer
- Those seeking to transition into a career in AYA cancer care
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Graduate Certificate: Up to three (3) scholarships will be awarded to the value of $6,000 each which funds half of the total cost of part time study for a one-year graduate certificate.
Graduate Diploma: Up to two (2) scholarships will be awarded to the value of $6,000 each which funds half of the total cost of a second-year part time study graduate diploma. (Please note those applying specifically for year two of the Graduate Diploma must have previously completed the first year of the Graduate Diploma, which is the Graduate Certificate in Adolescent Health & Wellbeing).
Master’s Degree: One (1) scholarship will be awarded to the value of $12,000 which funds half of the total cost of third and fourth-year part time study for the master’s degree. (Please note those applying specifically for the master’s degree must have previously completed the Graduate Diploma of Adolescent Health & Wellbeing).

Global Adolescent Health online course
With over 25% of the world’s population aged between 10 and 24 years, today’s generation of young people is the largest in human history. This intensive 8-week online course (6 weeks of active teaching) explores the health and wellbeing of young people across the different countries and regions of the world, and what individuals, communities and nations can do to improve their health and life chances.
Prepared and presented by Professors Susan Sawyer and the late George Patton, the course is comprised of a series of 3 to 15-minute audio-visual lectures each week. Students work through the program at their own pace and in their own time, and can engage with other students online.
Enrolment is simple, there are no prerequisites, and it costs nothing*.
