Fellowship Success – Suicide Prevention Australia
Please join us in congratulating Dr Lucas Calais Ferreira, who received a Suicide Prevention Australia Postgraduate Fellowship (2022-2024) from the Australian Government’s Suicide Prevention Research Fund. His research aims to use data linkage and epidemiology to improve the prevention of self-harm and suicide among socially excluded young people. Working closely with the Justice Health Unit led by Prof Stuart Kinner, he will access a state-of-the-art linked dataset with justice, medical and death records of all people who have had contact with the youth justice system from 2001-2019 in Australia. Dr Calais-Ferreira will engage with an established Project Advisory Committee (PAC) and lived experience groups to deliver translational outcomes for young people at higher risk of self-harm and suicide. Amount awarded: AUD$ 295,943.
