Teleconsultations are increasingly part of global health care but there are few resources to guide best practice with children and adolescents. The Centre for Adolescent Health was delighted to lead a body of work for the World Health Organization that has resulted in a new guide, How to plan and conduct telehealth consultations with children and adolescents and their families. This document is intended to provide practical guidance to multidisciplinary health-care professionals (HCPs) in planning, setting up and conducting teleconsultations with infants, children, adolescents and their families or caregivers. The guidance is intended to be relevant in countries where teleconsultation is already used and in countries in which teleconsultation systems are being strengthened. This globally oriented guide has also informed a new guideline for staff at the Royal Children’s Hospital, which will be available soon.
