Philanthropy supporting Adolescent Health

Handbury

Victorian philanthropist, Geoff Handbury AO, has kindly donated $2m to the RCH Foundation in support of Adolescent Health.

This significant gift has enabled the RCH Foundation to establish an endowment that will fund the Chair of Adolescent Health in perpetuity.

The existing Chair, currently held by Professor Susan Sawyer, has been renamed The Geoff and Helen Handbury Chair of Adolescent Health, in their honour.

Mr Handbury and his late wife, Helen, have supported the hospital for close to 20 years and have had a long interest in supporting this area of health care.

The RCH and the University of Melbourne have long recognised the importance of adolescent medicine and the leadership that the Centre for Adolescent Health provides.

The Chair will further enhance the already robust research leadership in adolescent health, and ensure that the RCH maintains a reputation as a leader in this field.
