The RCH has introduced a faster and more convenient way to stay in touch with patients who are waiting for planned surgery or procedures. If you have received an SMS or other communication from VicKey, rest assured that these are legitimate messages designed to support your healthcare experience.
From now on, the RCH will use text messages (SMS) to communicate important updates while you’re on the preparation list. Previously, you may have received a letter or phone call to confirm your availability and whether you wish to remain on the list. This process will now happen via SMS for quicker and easier communication.
What will the message look like?
Here’s an example of the text message you’ll receive:

The message will include a secure link where you’ll be asked to confirm your identity by providing basic details such as your surname and date of birth.
Important security information
The secure link will never ask for financial details or sensitive information such as your address. This change is designed to make communication faster, simpler, and more reliable for our patients.
If you’re ever unsure whether a link is safe or have concerns about a message you receive, please contact the RCH directly on (03) 9345 5522.
