Update to visitor screening

The safety of our patients, staff and community remains our priority, and in line with new pandemic orders, additional screening processes are now in place at The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).

All visitors, including parents and carers, will now be required to provide their COVID-19 vaccination status as part of the screening process. Those who are unable to provide evidence of their full vaccination status will be required to undertake a Rapid Antigen Test and prove a negative result. This test will be supplied by the RCH screening team. When a negative result has been returned, visitors will be supplied with an N95 mask to wear while in the hospital.

Visitor restrictions are still in place throughout the hospital, and surgical masks continue to be required for vaccinated visitors and children aged eight years and over.

If you have an upcoming appointment at the RCH, please allow more time to complete your screening upon arrival.

We know these restrictions can be challenging and we understand each family’s situation is different. For exceptional circumstances we encourage families to speak to their child’s treating team for further advice.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult times.
