Congratulations to our Education Institute Music Teacher Becky Hall on being selected from hundreds of applicants as an official ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) nominee for this year’s ARIA Music Teacher of the Year Award.
Becky provides education support to students with chronic and often life threatening illnesses at the Education Institute while they are patients at the hospital.

Becky developed her music lessons to be an integral part of the education program as she believes it is often in these creative subjects where young people find their niche or passion and they also help them to work through difficult times in their lives.
“It gives them the opportunity to learn, collaborate, record and perform their songs right here in the hospital to proud family and friends,” she says.
“If my students can leave the hospital having gained a skill or learnt something new, during such a difficult time in their lives and that helps them go back to school with confidence, then I think that’s an amazing thing.”
ARIA Award Ambassador Justine Clarke stopped by the RCH to inform Becky of her nomination and to learn more about her role.
The ARIA Music Teacher of the Year Award is a publicly voted award and people can vote once per day, per device. Voting will close on Wednesday November 21, 2018 and the recipient will be announced on Wednesday November 28.
This is the second year this ARIA Award category has been presented, to celebrate Australia’s music educators for their dedication and hard work in teaching children to play and love music.
