A reading by children’s book author Tony Wilson

The RCH joined over a million readers in over 8,000 locations including hospitals, schools and libraries across Australia for the 18th National Simultaneous Storytime.

National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy and encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.

On the day, people of all ages are invited to join in by sharing the same story – Hickory Dickory Dash, written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood  – at the same time.

The official reading by Tony Wilson was held on Wednesday May 23 at 11am in Ella Latham Auditorium at the RCH.

The event was broadcast live to bedsides at the RCH via RCH TV and across the country via Starlight TV and patient entertainment systems.

A copy of Hickory Dickory Dash was provided and distributed to every inpatient at the RCH on the day by the Book Bunker volunteer team.

The RCH also streamed Tony’s reading via Facebook Live. To watch the video head to the RCH Facebook page.
