Connor Anastasopoulos fought for his life and defied the odds when he was just days old, after he contracted a serious strain of viral meningitis.

At The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Connor was placed on life-support and given just hours to live after he suffered a heart attack caused by meningitis. RCH paediatrician Dr Nigel Crawford said, “Sometimes it (meningitis) can affect the heart, as it did in Connor, which clearly made him very sick and unwell in that early phase of his life.”

Remarkably Connor pulled through and was able to come off the life support machines. Just when things were beginning to improve Connor endured further complications, including a haemorrhage to his lungs, which he miraculously continued to overcome.

Now home with his parents Kathy and Steven, and older sister Victoria, Connor is a happy little boy who continues to go from strength to strength.
