Synopsis:Nigel Crawford undertook a sabbatical in 2013, reviewing international vaccine education initiatives and the end result is this grand round. Nigel will be launching the Melbourne Vaccine Education Centre (MVEC), which is modeled on the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia ‘Vaccine Education Centre’. MVEC will be based at the Melbourne Children’s campus, linking the campus partners and Monash Children’s Hospital. MVEC will include online A to Z immunisation guidelines and link to education programs, such as the Clinical Vaccinology Update (CVU) run biannually through the RCH & Monash Immunisation services. It is also planned to develop social media links through the site, as well as an up-to-date Immunisation App and regular Webinars and podcasts. Through improved vaccine education of parents and health care professionals, MVEC aims to address common queries around vaccines and to promote the benefits of immunisation for both children and adults.
