Synopsis
At 3am on 30th April RCH will “go-live” with a fully comprehensive Electronic Medical Record. This project has been several years in its planning and implementation phases. It is an expensive undertaking and one which has used a lot of the creative energy of many staff at RCH. The transition from our current way of working to a new way using the EMR will, like any other major change, be challenging for everyone involved.
As we make the final preparations for go-live it is timely to pause for thought and remind ourselves why we embarked on this journey.
What are the anticipated benefits for our patients, for our staff, for clinical research and for the broader community?
Will it all be worth it?
Maintaining a focus on the future benefits we hope to achieve will help us get through the short-term challenges we will face in the transition. “Keep your eye on the prize and hold on.”
