Synopsis
In this age of subspecialisation, effective communication and collaboration is key. How do we improve the care of children with head and neck conditions? Head & Neck Surgery is an established subspecialty within Otorhinolaryngology globally. Here at RCH, The University of Melbourne & MCRI, we are navigating the ever-changing complexity and diversity of congenital, acquired and neoplastic head and neck conditions. Neonatal tumour resection, voice reanimation surgery, drooling surgery, transnasal orbital decompression surgery, rib graft airway reconstruction, EXIT procedures (procedures on neonates still attached to the placenta) and other major head & neck surgery are performed routinely. Collaborative paediatric head & neck service is essential for the tertiary paediatric centre.
