Updated CPG: Petechiae & Purpura

The petechiae and purpura CPG has been updated and reviewed by the CPG committee – it has had a change of name and was previously called “Fever and petechiae – purpura”

The Key points for the CPG are

  1. The majority of children with petechiae do not have a serious bacterial infection or meningococcal disease, and often will not have a specific cause identified
  2. Seriously unwell children with petechiae/purpura require urgent management
