Acute Behavioural Disturbance – Code Response

Acute Behavioural Disturbance – Code Response was an existing Victorian CPG that has been revised then reviewed by CPG Committee members. It will be considered for PIC endorsement on 8 October.

Key Points

  1. The procedure should emphasise safety and non-restraint strategies in the first instance
  2. The Code Response team should perform this procedure
  3. Any physical restraint is a last resort, and should only be used to facilitate rapidly effective pharmacological treatment
  4. The terms Code Grey and Code Black are used interchangeably across states; here we refer to Code Response as a universal approach
