SYMPOSIUM LAUNCH
Our Future: A Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing
A team of staff from the Centre for Adolescent Health and around the world have been working towards the publication of the Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing for the past few years and are extremely excited to announce that the launch will be held in London in May 2016.
This report brings together perspectives from public health, economics, political and social science, behavioural science and neuroscience to consider strategies to advance adolescent health and wellbeing.
Adolescents have moved to the centre stage of global health and development following the recent announcement of the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health.
The report will present global profiles of burden of disease, health risks and the determinants of adolescent health and wellbeing. It reviews the current knowledge base for action, for engagement and empowerment of young people around their health, and considers the policy and legal frameworks for adolescent health and wellbeing.
The symposium will include panel discussions led by Dr. Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief. These will consider the report’s recommendations with a focus on the intersectoral responses needed and the roles of the international development community in progressing adolescent health and wellbeing.
