The first week after prison is the deadliest for ex-inmates

Congratulations to Professor Rohan Borschmann for the recent coverage of his new publication in The Lancet looking at mortality after release from incarceration in the Economist!

This publication – Rates and causes of death after release from incarceration among 1 471 526 people in eight high-income and middle income countries: an individual participant data meta analysis – has shed light on the pressing need for pre- and post-release healthcare. Findings showed the first-week post-release marks a critical period where mortality rates soar.
