Dr Helene King (Wood) MBBS FANZCA. Born 1934 Died 13 Feb 2022

The President and executive of the Alumni were saddened to learn of the death last weekend of Dr Helene King (nee Wood) who was an anaesthetist at RCH from 1964, in the early years after the Hospital moved to Parkville. She worked with Dr John Stocks at the time that the intensive Care Unit was being established. In 1970 she became deputy director of anaesthesia and in 1974 Acting Director.

She was highly regarded by many colleagues and friends from that period. In 1974 she married, moved away from Melbourne and settled near Gosford, New South Wales, where she continued to work in anaesthetic practice with children and adults, but chose to join the RCH Alumni in which she has been a member for many years.

Her husband pre-deceased her. We extend our sympathy to her family at this sad time.
