The Alumni executive were saddened to learn that David McCredie MD BSc FRACP has died after a short illness. He studied science and medicine at the University of Melbourne, graduating in 1949. He joined the Children’s Hospital as a Resident Medical Officer in 1951 and after further training in Melbourne and overseas, he became Second Assistant and Associate Professor at the Hospital, 1963-91.
He served as Hospital Nephrologist from 1973-79, and head of the General Medical and Professorial Medical Units from 1979-91. He represented the Australian Kidney Foundation and the International Paediatric Nephrology Association over a number of years. In 2004, he chaired the International Congress on Paediatric Nephrology in Adelaide. He was appointed a Member in the Order of Australia, in the general division (AM), in The Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2019.
