Nine-year-old Royal Children’s Hospital patient Ramsis Slewa is spending eight-hours a day in a light box while he waits for a life-saving liver transplant.
Ramsis was born with a rare inherited liver condition known as Criggler-Najjar syndrome where the body is unable to detoxify a chemical in the blood called billirubin, which means he needs daily light therapy. Ramsis’ sister Rama was also born with the same condition and received a liver transplant in 2006.
