Little Jack Gallacher-Francis is one of many patients expected to make the move to the new Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) this week.
The two-and-a-half-year-old was born with only a couple of centimetres of oesophagus and has spent more than half of his life in the RCH. Jack and his mum Heidi Gallacher, know the surrounds of the hospital all too well and they are looking forward to a bright new environment when the patients move across to the new RCH on Wednesday, 30 November.
“He’s going to have an operation in the new hospital, they are going to remove the upper part of his lung, the right upper lobe and they are going to fix the hole in the oesophagus,” Mrs Gallacher said.
“If you had asked us back in October if we would still be here for the move we would have said ‘no’.
“When I knew that we were, I thought ‘bring it on, I just want to get over there and have a sneak peek’.”
