Critically ill children in the hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) will benefit from the Islamic Community Auxiliary to the Royal Children’s Hospital (ICARCH) first Good Friday Appeal donation.
At its first function as an Auxiliary last year ICARCH raised $170,000 for the RCH Good Friday Appeal. In keeping with the aims of the Appeal, this donation will support research and medical equipment in intensive care.
Tomorrow Sheik Fehmi El Imam, leader of the Victorian Islamic Community, and ICARCH patron Sir James Gobbo AM will unveil a Phosphorimager at Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI). This is a state-of-the-art machine that will enable researchers at MCRI to diagnose genetic illnesses in children.
They will then visit the hospital’s paediatric intensive care unit to learn how their support will enhance the care of critically ill children. The balance of their donation will be used to purchase Overhead Heaters for the hospital’s PICU.
The hospital welcomes the support of Victoria’s Islamic community which will benefit all children who are cared for in the hospital.
The Royal Children’s Hospital cares for Victorian children from all nationalities and cultural backgrounds. In turn the Good Friday Appeal receives generous support from community groups which reflect our cultural diversity.
