This year’s Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal was extra special in more ways than one. Not only did 2011 represent the 80th anniversary of the GFA but it was yet another record breaking year, with a phenomenal $15,156,000 raised beating last year’s tally of $14.4M.
Loyal supporters and staff attended the annual cheque handover, held Friday 24 June where the face of the 2011 appeal, young Scarlett McGowan, presented the cheque to Professor Christine Kilpatrick, CEO, The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).
“It really does never cease to amaze me, how privileged we are here at The Royal Children’s Hospital to have such wonderful community support,” said CEO Christine. “I would like start the evening by sincerely thanking you, for all that you do, for our very young, sick patients and their families, as well as our staff.”
The generosity of donors from all around Victoria leaves an indelible mark each year on the hearts and minds of patients, families and staff at the hospital. For without the generosity of the public we would not be able to call ourselves one of the world’s best children’s hospital.
The RCH already provides world class care, but with GFA funds it also allows the RCH to undertake research, purchase specialist equipment and provide programs that set us apart and make us a leading children’s hospital.
Thanks once again to our supporting community groups and the public for making this the most successful appeal to date.
Next year’s appeal promises lots of excitement and new things to see, as we will be settled in our brand new state-of-the-art hospital next door.
