The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Good Friday Appeal presented an impressive cheque for $16.4 million dollars to the RCH last Friday at the offical Good Friday Appeal (GFA) Cheque Handover event.

The RCH has benefited from 82 years of unwavering support from the GFA.  This year’s appeal achieved another record total thanks to the hard work and generosity of thousands of Victorians.

Speaking to the GFA regional leaders, media partners and long term supporters, RCH CEO Professor Christine Kilpatrick thanked guests for their contribution.

“In many ways we view the Good Friday Appeal as an important yardstick for the value the community places on our hospital,” Christine said.

“By shaking your tins, each of you has chosen to wear your heart on your sleeve for this hospital. Then, with each dollar you collect, you offer the Victorian community the same opportunity – the opportunity to provide a glowing endorsement of their children’s hospital, through donation,” she said.

GFA funds support world class equipment and technology, ground breaking research, leadership and education, and patient and family centred care programs to help make the RCH a great children’s hospital.

RCH Chairman, the Hon Rob Knowles AO, thanked Victorians for the very real difference they make to the hospital and the care it provides patients and families.

“Your dedication, your commitment to our patients and families is truly inspiring. Without you, we couldn’t do what we do,” Rob said.
