Congratulations Homesglen students!

Ten Holmesglen students have successfully completed the 2018 integrated practical placement program at The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).

The students celebrated their achievements at a graduation event, attended by their families and the RCH staff who have support them with their placement throughout the year.

The placement program involved each student undertaking three, nine-week supervised assignments in various hospital departments, while completing certificate one in work education.

The students worked across areas including The Family Hub, Central Sterilising Supply Department, Human Resources, Allied Health and Food Services.

The program is the first of its kind in Australia and it is hoped that it inspires other businesses to create opportunities for people with added learning needs and/or disability to learn transferable skills for the workforce.

Expressions of interest from students wishing to take part in the 2019 program at the RCH are now open.

The 2019 program will give twelve students enrolled in Certificate I in Work Education at Holmesglen the opportunity to study a workplace based program onsite at the hospital in Parkville.

For expressions of interest, please contact Program Manager Jan Davis on (03) 9564 1964 or at jan.davis@holmesglen.edu.au.
