Main Street at the RCH turned into a monster party for the launch of Monster Rock, a rollicking, rhyming book by patients in the hospital’s kindergarten program.

ABC Play School presenter and RCH Education Institute Ambassador Eddie Perfect brought the cheeky creatures of Monster Rock to life with an animated reading of the book, showing children in the audience how to ‘boogie boogie’, ‘munch munch’, ‘boing boing’ and ‘flap flap’ like a mischievous monster. Eddie was later joined on the stage by RCH music teacher Becky Hall, and the two talented singers performed a musical rendition of the book, pounding out a wicked monster beat!

The Monster Rock book project was led by RCH Education Institute early childhood educators Sonya Nedovic and Sonja Fea, whose kindergarten students were intrigued by magnificent monsters and boisterous beasts. Their curiosity inspired some amazing monster collages and a rambunctious rhyme that we proudly launched today as the delightful Monster Rock book.

Monster Rock is available from the RCH Shop at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and selected booksellers including Readings, Reader’s Feast, Hill of Content bookshop, Eltham Books and Books Illustrated.

Monster Rock was made possible through the generous support of The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation and Shine Australia.
