International Nurses Day: Our team shares why they wanted to become nurses

As we celebrate International Nurses Day tomorrow, we visited nurses on our Sugar Glider, Cockatoo and Koala wards to find out why they wanted to become nurses.

“I wanted to become a nurse so I could care for people in their most vulnerable state, I think it’s a privilege to do my job every day!” Clare, Sugar Glider.

“I wanted to become a nurse so I could look after families and kids when they’re at their most vulnerable. I love being able to help patients get healthy and back home.” Maddie, Sugar Glider.

“I love caring for people and knew I wanted to work in healthcare. I chose nursing because my mum said I would be a good nurse.” Luca, Cockatoo.

“I wanted to become a nurse after I had some friends who became unwell in their 20s. I thought that caring for them, and for other people in need, would be a great job.” Bec, Cockatoo

“I’m a nurse because I wanted to be involved in families lives when they’re feeling vulnerable and do what I could to help care for them.” Clare, Cockatoo

“I was inspired by my mum, dad and auntie who are all nurses.” Jenna, Koala Ward

“I love kids and knew I wanted to work in healthcare, so working as a nurse at the RCH seemed like a perfect fit!” Sophie, Koala Ward
