Seven-year-old Bella is celebrating 100 days cancer free after receiving a bone marrow transplant in March.
Bella was initially diagnosed back in September following a two week cold that she couldn’t shake. Her doctor suspected it may be glandular fever and ran some tests; overnight the results came back confirming that Bella in fact had leukaemia.
After a bout of chemotherapy it was discovered that Bella was resistant and the treatment was not working. Doctors decided she needed a bone marrow transplant, and in March Bella received a transplant that has seen her reach her 30, 60 and 90 day milestones all leukaemia free!
But after spending many months at the RCH, including Christmas and Easter, mum Alison says the real celebrations will begin when Bella is back home and they can function as a normal family again.
“The hardest part was after her transplant when she was isolation. She didn’t see her siblings for three months,” she said.
“It’ll be a shock to go home as we’re so used to being here 24/7. But I can’t wait for Bella to just be a kid. Being back at home with her older brother and sister, and back at school. She’s also really missing our puppy Indie.”
Bella is now concentrating on getting her gut back to full health so she can return home and continue painting, singing and dancing – her favourite hobbies!
Send your best wishes to Bella below.

Brave and beautiful Bella! My name is Willow and I am a bone marrow fairy! We’re like tooth fairies, only better. Because, you see, we only visit the bravest boys and girls in all the land. And we’ve been hearing all about you in fairy land Bella! The other fairies told me that you are one of the bravest girls in the whole entire world. Sometimes it can be scary going home after being in hospital for a long time, but you don’t need to worry. Every night, when you fall asleep, we will be there to sprinkle you with magic! We will help you to dream beautiful dreams! And if you’re ever sad or scared, all you need to whisper is Twinkle Twinkle Fairy Sprinkle Bone Marrow Fairies Please Come Twinkle! We’re very very tiny so you won’t be able to see or hear us but I promise you we are there, right by your side to cover you with invisible fairy dust! Keep being amazing Bella! Love your personal Bone Marrow Fairy, Willow.

GO BELLA, So inspirational, we all face challenges in our lives but if we can all do it smiling, dancing, singing and just making other people smile like you do the world would be such a better place. I can not wait to see you out and about and enjoying your family and friends again like all 7 year old’s should. You add the sparkle to the glitter and I feel privileged to have been able to follow and be apart of your journey. Much love to you beautiful Bella never let anyone dull your sparkle 🙂
