The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) is saddened by the news that Mrs Loti Smorgon AO, significant supporter and long term friend of the RCH, died on Tuesday, aged 94.
Mrs Smorgon was married to the late Victor Smorgon AC for 73 years and the two became well known in Australia for their remarkable generosity.
A portrait of the couple by artist Jenny Sages, and kindly donated by the Smorgon family, is displayed Main Street at the RCH and symbolises their generosity, leadership and commitment to the health and wellbeing of children.
“Loti Smorgon was a committed philanthropist who will be missed, but she leaves a great legacy for the RCH, including The Victor and Loti Smorgon Chair of Paediatrics,” said RCH CEO Professor Christine Kilpatrick.
