Once again this year, generous Victorians have shown their care and concern for some of the most vulnerable in our community, our sick children.
Donors from all round Australia contributed an astounding $12,482,380 to the Good Friday Appeal to support clinical care, research and family services at the RCH.
“The generosity of the public inspires and motivates all of us at the RCH,” said RCH chairman Tony Beddison AO.
“This magnificent contribution will ensure Victoria’s sick children continue to receive world class care in Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital. I thank you all on behalf of everyone associated with this wonderful hospital.”
Thanks to the 28,000 people who ran or walked the 3rd annual Run for the Kids course on last Sunday the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) will purchase $730,000 worth of equipment.
And we’ll also purchase ten anaesthetic work stations for our operating theatres – that’s one million dollars worth!
Chairs that convert to beds for parents to sleep beside a sick child, ophthalmology equipment and a new half a million dollar data system for surgical services are just a few of the other items on order, thanks to the appeal.
So thanks everyone, from the kids.
