Synopsis:
In recognition of Allied Health Professions Day 2023, this year’s RCH Allied Health Grand Round explores future opportunities for Allied Health to harness and build upon digital learning and capability in the delivery of high-quality patient care. Going beyond the electronic medical record, our line-up of expert presenters will highlight the scope of digital health possibilities within allied health practice with a key focus on the themes of collaboration and co-design, audience reach and sustainability.
Speakers:
Kath Feely is the Chief Allied Health Information Officer (CAHIO), Parkville Precinct. Kath has worked in Public Health in Victoria for more than 20 years as a physiotherapist and more recently in clinical informatics and EMR implementations. Kath has completed post graduate studies in Cardio-respiratory Physiotherapy, Clinical Informatics and Master of Public Health (Health Economics). She is the Chief Allied Health Information Officer at the four Parkville precinct hospitals. Kath is passionate about using technology and data to evaluate and improve clinical service delivery and patient outcomes. In 2021 Kath received a Brilliant Women in Digital Health award from Telstra Health.
Jen Corda is a senior respiratory physiotherapist and cardiorespiratory team leader at RCH. Jen works primarily with children with Cystic Fibrosis and has particular interests in exercise testing and training alongside evolving clinical models of care to match the changing landscapes of healthcare to one which includes the implementation of digital health. Jen has completed her Master of Research, a health service research fellowship through the Melbourne Academic Centre for Health and is a current clinical data champion through the Centre for health Analytics.
Carlie Alicastro is a Child Life Therapist at RCH. Carlie works predominantly in the Medical Imaging Department to engage, educate and empower children and their families during their healthcare experience. Her role as a Child Life Therapist also sees her working as the host and co-producer of the in-house TV show, RCHTV. She helps to produce peer modelled videos that support children’s understanding of hospital experiences. She also hosts the live game show, Hospital Lingo, where inpatients have an opportunity to learn about hospital equipment and have a chance to win a prize. She is currently completing a Master of Child Play Therapy.
Matt Carlile is an Orthotist at RCH. Since joining the RCH Orthotics and Prosthetics team in 2016, Matt has provided care in a diverse range of clinical areas including cerebral palsy, scoliosis, CTEV and plagiocephaly. Matt is currently using digital technology, including 3D printing, to deliver efficient, effective and sustainable healthcare virtually across Bass Strait to patients from Tasmania.
