Journey towards Leadership

Synopsis

Jill will reflect on her journey towards leadership over her career, in the context of the changing understanding about effective leadership, gender issues in leadership, and her experiences of the Homeward Bound Women in STEMM leadership program during 2019

 

Speaker

Associate Professor Jill Sewell AM MBBS FRACP DMedSci (hon) FAICD, is a senior consultant paediatrician in the Centre for Community Child Health and the immediate past Clinical Director of the Children’s Bioethics Centre at The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).  She has over 35 years experience at the RCH as a specialist in developmental and behavioural paediatrics. Her interests include early childhood development, training in community child health, clinical bioethics, medical education, women in medicine, safety and quality in health care, medical regulation and accreditation, and health service delivery.

Jill is Chair of the Victorian Clinical Council, and previous President of the Australian Medical Council, the RACP, and the Paediatrics and Child Health Division of the RACP. She was the co-clinical lead of the Victorian Paediatric Clinical Network, and has board experience on a number of health organisations.

In 2005 Jill was made a Member of the Order of Australia for services to child health.
