Child protection week: Policy, patients and practice: the role of the hospital and DHHS in helping vulnerable children

Synopsis:

Sean Tyrell will outline some of the policy work the Department of Health and Human Services Child Health and Wellbeing Unit has been undertaking since its creation in November 2017. Topics to be covered include:

–        Review of Healthcare That Counts

–        Transport arrangements for deceased children

–        Design work on new child health model for vulnerable children with chronic conditions.

–        Scoping a paediatric capability framework

 

Speaker:

Sean Tyrell is Manager of the Child Health and Wellbeing Unit at the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services. He has previously worked on children’s services with the Victorian and Commonwealth education departments and the Prime Minister’s Social Inclusion Unit. Sean is blind and is one of the leaders of the Enablers Network for Victorian Public Sector employees with a disability.
