New therapies for genetic diseases

Synopsis:

This Grand Round will present data on the latest clinical trials in Friedreich ataxia, haemochromatosis and inherited skeletal disorders (achondroplasia and Schmid chondrodysplasia). It will focus on how understanding the genetic basis of disorders can lead to targeted therapies and on innovative trial designs.

 

Speakers:

Professor Martin Delatycki is Medical Director of Victorian Clinical Genetics Services and co-Director of the Bruce Lefroy Centre at Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. He has clinical and research interest in neurogenetics and genetic screening.

Professor Ravi Savarirayan is a clinical geneticist and translational scientist working at the Victorian Clinical Genetics Services, and Group leader of Musculoskeletal Research at Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.
