Ethical Leadership Without Easy Answers

SYNOPSIS

There is no easy formula for ethical leadership in a world where systematic ethical analysis is rare and cognitive processes work against us. We will explore how we can meet these challenges and lead more ethically

 

SPEAKER

Dr Rufus Black is the Master of Ormond College at the University of Melbourne. A strategic advisor, ethicist and theologian, he works on public policy, ethical and education issues.

He is also the Deputy Chancellor of Victoria University and the Founding Chair of the Board of Teach for Australia. He is a Director of the law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth, the New York based Teach for All and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute.

His advisory work for government at federal and state levels has involved work on health care, defence, security and education and he is the author of three major government reviews.

Before becoming Master of Ormond College, Dr Black worked at McKinsey & Company for 9 years where he was a partner.

His academic interests are as an ethicist. He has a M.Phil. and D.Phil. in moral theology from the University of Oxford, has published a wide range of ethical issues and has been involved in hospital and medical research ethics committees. He teaches in the Centre for Ethical Leadership based at Ormond College.
